Broken Treaty Series: Warrior with Buffalo Shield

This Broken Treaty piece has a warrior riding his red Appaloosa across the Dakotas-(at least the map of the Dakotas!) There is a shield with a turtle in the center and is painted with fluid acrylics and drawn with an acrylic pen.

The Broken Treaty Series uses a Dakota Territories map from the Library of congress, torn and collaged onto canvas.  Then I paint on top of the map.  The series is Broken Treaty because every treaty with Native nations were broken.
